What does the 2019 DOE standard mean?
- The Department of Energy (DOE) sets new standards for dehumidifiers every few years.
- A new standard was set in 2019 that tested dehumidifier performance in an environment of 65°F and 60% Relative humidity.
- This is different from the 2012 test, in which the environment was 80° Fahrenheit and 60% Relative humidity.
- Therefore, this 50-pint dehumidifier can remove up to 70 pints of moisture per day in an environment of 80° Fahrenheit and 60% Relative humidity.
- However, it can only remove 50 pints in an environment of 65°F and 60% Relative humidity.
